The Rolex "No-Date" or "Wu Zi Tian Shu" (Book Without Words), reference 18238/18038, features an Onyx dial, also known as a black agate dial. Because it lacks hour markers, it is nicknamed "Wu Zi Tian Shu" (Book Without Words). Produced from 1978 with the 18038 to 2001 with the limited 118238, the "Wu Zi Tian Shu" was in production for over 20 years, though actual output was relatively low. If not for the fact that Rolex service centers in Europe, the US, and particularly Japan offered dial replacements during a certain period, there would be even fewer of these watches on the market. The "Wu Zi Tian Shu" can be divided into three periods: MK1, marked with "T Swiss T," appeared only on early 18038 models; MK2, marked with "Swiss," was found on some 18038 and early 18238 models; and MK3, marked with "Swiss Made," appeared on 18238 and a very limited number of 118238 models from 2000-2001. However, since "Swiss Made" dials were also used as service replacements, some 18038 models may also feature this marking. Additional details, such as the window and font, can help distinguish between MK1, MK2, and MK3, though these won't be discussed in depth here. Overall, for someone like me who appreciates vintage watches and smaller case diameters, the "Wu Zi Tian Shu" represents the pinnacle of Rolex's aesthetic appeal. It effortlessly combines elements of yuppie style, elegance, luxury, mystery, and even a touch of sportiness, creating a unique and harmonious design. The 118206 gives me a sense of cold, like the glaciers of Kunlun, while the "Wu Zi Tian Shu" exudes a sense of opulence and mystery, akin to a black hole. Japanese movement: waterproof for daily life, cheap, most cost-effective, 95% restoration, power reserve of about 48 hours, automatic winding (needs to be manually wound every 4-5 days).
Swiss movement: excellent waterproof performance, 99% restoration degree, all functions, watch materials, workmanship, and details are very similar to the original. The power reserve of the movement is up to 72 hours. D. What is the first thing you do after receiving the watch?
1) For quartz movement watches, the battery is already configured and you only need to adjust the time.
2) Mechanical movement watches need to be wound manually for the first time to ensure accurate travel time.
